Well shit.

I think I may have finally won the lottery I didn’t want to. Definitely symptomatic for covid, but several tests have been negative. Omicron is notorious for evading the lateral flow tests, so it’s hard not to feel like I’m being toyed with at this point.

@pimoore Shit Indeed. Hope you get to the bottom of this and, if it turns out your time has finally arrived, wishing you a quick and full recovery.

@pimoore Hope you’ll power through it and have no lasting effects. I’d try to get a lot of cold remedies to stay the healthiest possible while it lasts. You know, ginger shots, honey, citrus based stuff, and maybe garlic and fish, lots of fish. I know this isn’t for everyone though…

@pimoore Sorry to hear. My family and many others have found that the at home test is more accurate it you swab the back of the throat (strep test wise) before the nose swab. Have confirmed with Medical Pros as well.

@maique @odd @jaheppler @patrickrhone Thank you all, I’m hoping this is in fact is just a normal head/chest cold but I’m still not convinced. Ironically enough I already did what Patrick suggested and swabbed my throat first, yet it was still negative. Orange juice will be in my near future, and I already take immune-boosting supplements—though apparently uselessly in this case.

Give me a cold or bug of any kind, and I turn into a big man child. :)

@pimoore Sorry to hear that you feel unwell. I hope that you get an answer soon one way or the other - and my wish for you is that it is negative. Having caught COVID over a month ago and still dealing with the after effects - yuk!

@bradenslen @archimage @mroutley @sylari @crossingthethreshold Thank you all, honestly at this point long covid scares me more than the actual virus itself. My test earlier today again came back negative, so I’m at a loss.

My wife also just called me leaving work, and her first response was “you sound horrible.”

That’s super. 😂

@pimoore Why at a loss? All the nasty ailments that were around before COVID are still around. I had a two-week respiratory illness in the middle of the lockdowns, got acquainted with telemedicine, took lots of tests, decided along with the doctor that it was some other bug.

@JMaxB Don’t get me wrong, that’s what I want this to be. It’s definitely easy to forget colds didn’t disappear when the pandemic showed up. I actually like that telemedicine became a thing, I hope it stays around whenever an in-person visit isn’t necessary or is unsafe.

@pimoore Let's hope it's just another one of the gazillion less serious bugs that are out there. Other than that my only suggestion is if you have any breathing issues whatsoever call the doctor back. Will keep you in prayers.

@SgtApple @ptrck Thankfully it doesn't yet feel like it's in my lungs and affecting my breathing. That admittedly gives me a little more hope that maybe it's not covid, but still working from home and leaving nothing to chance.

@pimoore I got COVID right before my whole family went off on a family reunion and I ended up being able to make it for the last half of the trip. I mention this because, while your experience may be different, it might be similar too. You have my prayers and well wishes for getting through this as well as you can. At the bare minimum, Micro.blog needs your positive presence sticking around.🙂

@gregmoore Really appreciate reading that last sentence, Greg. 🙏

I’m hanging in there so far; I’m battered and bruised but still fighting this thing like a champion. I went to our Covid assessment centre yesterday, and while I still don’t have a definitive answer, my O2 levels and blood pressure were bang on. I’m armed with an inhaler now so hopefully it will help with the cough, by far the worst part of this.

@Denny I started getting vertigo when un-tended-to high blood pressure reached the symptomatic point. Got it under control with meds, but it was a dangerous situation. Worth checking out.

@pimoore The covid(?) story continues, as my wife—inevitably, since we live in a small condo with only one even smaller bathroom, and kitchen—is also sick now. 😢 We both knew it was only a matter of time, but it doesn’t make the situation any easier to deal with. At this point I’m more concerned for her than myself, as she has asthma and high blood pressure.

No rest for the weary, but now I’m doing my best to look after both of us. Send copious amounts of coffee, please.
