Gowalla returns! Excited to see how they’ve reinvented it. Just in time… My old Gowalla shirt was getting faded. “…while our communities have plenty of work ahead to rebound from 2020, we believe 2021 will be a year like no other to rediscover your city.”
@manton I loved Gowalla back in the day. Nice to see they actually have a revenue model this time but it would be nice if they weren't so vague about why you would want to pay $99/yr.
@davidm I loved Gowalla too. Not sure what this new one is actually going to look like (AR!) but I’ll join just for the t-shirt and to see where they take it.
@bix My reading of it was more that it’s paying for early access to kind of bootstrap it. Not sure what the long-term model is.
@manton My T-shirt never fit right so I ended up passing it on to my wife, who wasn't interested in how cool it was. 😭 I still have my stash of stickers though!
@bix Yeah, that's a good point. I guess it doesn't bother me much because I was such a fan of the original service. Also, it's not clear if there is really any "work" involved in being on the street team. We'll see!
