Micro.blog

This article at Smashing Magazine is a great introduction to the IndieWeb by Ana Rodrigues. Covers the principles, community, and tech building blocks. Perfectly captures the “why” of owning your own content and blogging.

@manton So the one thing that I do wish mb had a better handle on are web mentions...just cant get my head around if this can be baked in, is already?

@kaa It's baked in. Micro.blog will send Webmentions when you're replying, and accept incoming Webmentions to your posts from other blogs. (The limitation is it doesn't work with Webmentions from Twitter via Bridgy, since they don't currently fit in the Micro.blog timeline.)

@manton Are you thinking of maybe making this output from this more 'discoverable'? What I mean by that is, now if I go to mentions, I can see someone has responded to a post. What I have no idea of knowing (or maybe I'm missing something?) is when someone mentions a post I made in their post...that is what Webmentions are meant to be right? Like the old WordPress pingbacks?

@kaa If someone links to your post and sends a Webmention, it should show up in the Mentions section of Micro.blog. Do you have an example of where that's not happening? It would be nice to have a debugging kind of view into what is being sent or received.
