@mdrockwell some brews to share with us?

@numericcitizen the only one I have setup takes the most recent tweets from the members of a private list (up to 200 total tweets) and emails me the tweets at 7:30 AM.

I haven't received the email yet, but I'm very hopeful that this will replace the vast majority of my usage — instead of launching Tweetbot a dozen times each day.

@mdrockwell and don’t forget, Mailbrew supports a lot of sources to build brews (Reddit, RSS, etc.) and you can put « decorations » too to make the look better. All in all, I’m a fan of this service.

@numericcitizen does it give twitter feeds free, cos that's something missing from NetNewsWire & free tiers of companies, e.g. InoReader ??

@w4rner I’m not sure to understand your question...

@w4rner all of Mailbrew is a paid service. There's a 14-day free trial, but after that it's $8 per month.

@mdrockwell @w4rner don’t forget to use this affiliate link if you ever subscribe, it would bring me happyness !

@mdrockwell : I'm glad it's honest business model, but frankly $8/mo is too high vs. NetNewsWire with manual refresh. In general, I wish there were more micro-paid services like $1-3/mo. Maybe @numericcitizen promo code would help out, is there a discount for users too :P

@w4rner Mailbrew is really neat and it seems like the best way to funnel tweets into an open system that I already use. But I agree $8 a month is a bit steep just for that. I'm going to let the trial play out and see if it's something I want to keep.

@mdrockwell When you say "open system", I assume you mean your existing RSS reader setup, or just email. Anyhow, please let me know what you decide in 14 days or if you find any alternatives! I'll most likely take your lead.

@w4rner I imagine I'll write about my results on my Micro weblog or on my tech weblog. :)

@mdrockwell Neat have RSS'd to tech weblog in case there. Curious about your use of Auttomatic & SimpleNote "ads?" there? I’m a big proponent of indie web monetisation (like the Five Colors guys do RSS post ads).

@w4rner they're not really ads. I was part of Carbon Ads prior to joining Automattic and decided to drop them so I could take advantage of some of the employee discounts on Jetpack. But I didn't like what my site looked like without the ads (I did the design with those in mind). So I rolled my own that point to Automattic's brands as a way to promote them.

@mdrockwell What actually are Carbon Ads? I gather that's what funds the awesome free tier of Cutt.ly which I use for e.g. Wrnr.me

@w4rner it's basically the current "cool" ad network. Sort of like The Deck — just a simple image and a bit of text. The whole gimmick is that it's one ad per page and comparatively unobtrusive. www.carbonads.net

@w4rner @mdrockwell @numericcitizen Mailbrew is a service I’d love to use, but I also think the $8/month is a little steep for me. I’m not even on the trial period, because I know I won’t be sticking around after that. Sadly.

@mdrockwell would like to see solid privacy credentials to deem it cool. Dunno about the deck.
