I just read that Drafts Pro increased its annual subscription from $20 to $30 starting Jan 1. Luckily I had subscribed on Dec 30 without knowing this.

People who have a $20 subscription are grandfathered in for as long as that subscription is active. Nice.

@pratik Compared to other software, and given how I rely on it, the price I’ve been paying for Drafts is cheap. Almost too cheap. I think this is a reasonable move for Agile Tortoise, it will be good for the sustainability of the Drafts, and that’s good news for us.

@jean Agree but I had been using Bear which is $15 so I would’ve hesitated a bit when I had not tried it out.

@pratik “That also sounds too cheap,” says the software marketing person who has lived through many pricing strategies and their aftermath. 😅

@jean @pratik I think that Bear has been at $15 since they launched, which by my memory was a good few years ago now, and I am surprised that they have been able to keep it so low (going by other software subscription rates).

@jean yep, totally agree. All my writing starts in Drafts. I’m just waiting for full theming before deciding if I’m going to hang on to Ulysses.

@pratik Bear is a lovely notes app, and the price is very reasonable. But I personally wouldn't put it in the same category as Drafts. Truth be told I don't think there's any other app in the same league as Drafts.

@maique If it weren't for posting to Blot seamlessly, I would be fine using Bear. It does everything that Apple's Notes does but better. It even let me export notes in Markdown. But yes, the Actions make Drafts very powerful and I'm now warming up to it. The footnotes action that I recently discovered made me really happy.

@crossingthethreshold @jean The subscription is only for syncing across devices, which invariably people like to do because apps for each device are beautifully designed and work well together.

@maique I think people miss that Bear is a lot more than a notes app. It’s also a “capture” app. Haven’t found anything that has the same fidelity of web page capture as Bear(other than Evernote).

@mcg Noted. Forgot about that, thank you for pointing it out.

@pratik Do you still use Bear, or have you moved all of your writing and/or note taking to Drafts?

@crossingthethreshold Now I’m using Drafts. I’ve to still explore the full capabilities though.
