@macgenie Discover timelines focused on single languages would be great, I would definitely follow more than one. But do keep the general mixed one!
@dreadnaut I definitely want the general timeline to include other languages. I try to add what I can to the mix based the languages I am familiar with or bloggers who I am have been following. Especially if photos of dogs, cats, kids, or guinea pigs are included. But it would be nice to have fluent speakers vetting new accounts and posts.
@dreadnaut @macgenie This is a great post and I have to say that the Discover feed is one of my favourite aspects of the service. It gives me a window into others’ interests, beyond those I follow. Also yes, the language idea is a good one.
@macgenie and now I know how to game the system 😈. Joking aside, I wondered how discover posts were chosen and this explains a lot. I really like your point “start discussions not arguments.” A great criteria.
@macgenie It’s interesting how many criteria (or rationale behind them) are shared with my recaps, given their different goals and mediums.
It’s nice to see the method behind the non-madness :-)
@macgenie This was a great post Jean. And something that will always makes the human curation better -- the answer is very rarely "it's too complicated". Thank you writing this.
@macgenie Thanks for the glimpse behind the curtain at the warm and gentle heart of the micro.blog community that Discover is.
@macgenie Thanks for sharing the process. The selection is always excellent, topical, and eclectic. I had kinda guessed the photo criteria.
