You don’t have to use titles for longer posts if you don’t want to. If you write a post that is longer than 280 characters, the title field will appear, but you don’t have to fill it in. When you publish the post, the first 280 characters will appear (approximately), and then the post w... micro.welltempered.net

@macgenie I think a title can be useful but I’ve often written titles that had nothing at all to do with the content. Because I could!

One reason we think Twitter got so popular, and people ended using while abandoning their own blogs, is the lack of friction when you only have something short to say. No worrying about a title, or worrying about writing something that is worthy of a title.

@macgenie I think so too. One of the nicest things for me is having my posts long or short show up on my mastodon instance. I like the community on my instance quite a bit. It’s easy to write things once on micro.blog and then have photos and blogposts update there.
