Reality check. I canceled my rideshare driver insurance coverage. Took down the @Lyft stickers and the driving checklist by the door.

It will be months at least before I’m comfortable with strangers in my car. I’m sad. I liked driving for Lyft. 🚗

@jeffmueller One of my 1000+ passengers recognized me from App Camp. I also got called to my next door neighbor’s for an airport run. Other than that, all strangers.

@macgenie Somehow in all my Lyft rides to and from the airport I've never had you as a driver!

@aaronpk That would have been a fun surprise for me.

@macgenie Wait, an amp? Free concerts in your car? 😊

@ronguest That dashboard lamp with the logo. I'm not sure why they christened it the Amp.

For simplicity, I started leaving it in the car, though it actually got stolen and I had to get a replacement.

I did play music, to give people the illusion I wasn't listening to their calls. Very low volume non-commercial classical (mornings) and jazz (afternoons). 675FF179-60F8-484E-9E7A-39EC3055CE13.jpg

@macgenie I drove for Uber for a short time. I actually really enjoyed it (well, except the one time I literally had to push a passenger out of the car before she vomited her full night of liquor all over the place). The wear and tear on the car, though, was quite heavy. If I did it for a living, I would lease a car just for that purpose.

@macgenie Never would've guessed that!

Also, the car in front of you is mine (virtually)

@gpittman It’s a tough way to make a living. I liked getting away from the house and talking to actual people. My gripe was people who were late and stressed me out by expecting I could get them there on time. I never drove so late to pick up the drunks. I just dropped people off early in the evening before they started partying.
