@jayeless Thanks for the link to novelWriter (not that I’m writing a novel, but it looks interesting and worth a look).

Yes, it’s a get-up-in-the-morning-make-the-tea-then-go-through-the-RSS-feeds process for me; a bit like reading the paper in the good old days. Then there’s a system of either read the article there and then, keep it open in Firefox for later or send it to Pocket or Notion (depending on whether it’s an article or a service or similar I’m just interested in). There’s no doubt some RSS management service/system out there :-) Oh yeah, then I’ll skim through Skinny Guardian (not a plug, just something that works for me as it simply lists Guardian articles).

Strikes me I read more than ever but fewer books.

@leonp You're welcome for the link!

My own system is very similar: read it on the spot, open it in the browser for later (I try not to do this too much because "for later" often means "have the tab open, unread, for weeks"), or discard; then once I've read something, I add it and tag it in Raindrop.io, and sometimes re-share it as a link post, and also sometimes add to my personal wiki with the stuff I've learned. Skinny Guardian looks like a nifty site – it doesn't seem like the Guardian includes its "Australian edition" articles in its main feed, though, which is a shame because they cover a lot of good stuff that other media outlets here won't touch (like near-daily expositions on how badly our welfare system treats recipients, for example).

I used to be so good about reading books, but I fell out of the habit some time last year, and just haven't been able to get back to it 😢 I should find a spot for that in the daily routine.

@jayeless I can blame lots of things for not reading books; work, social media, tinkering with the website, but I should just put aside the time.

The Guardian API lets you filter by edition (uk, us or au), so I might take a look at the weekend as I’ve set it to only grab uk articles. Be a nice little IA exercise.

@leonp Ah, thank you! I've added it to my browser's "Speed Dial", next to my link to ABC News 😊
