@andrewford Stay wary though that Marco has sold off many of his projects to as "ewwy" companies. Tumblr to yahoo >> verizon. We can hope he keeps intrest in it, but history doesn't bode well.
@andrewford being taken over by NPR isn't as bad as being taken over by Fox News, so, could be worse... 😜
@andrewford Oh no. I hope he's wrong. I much prefer Pocket Casts to Overcast but I’m going to have to rethink now.
@andrewford I agree, but would like to see what actually happens in the next few months to Pocket Casts.
@andrewford Overcast is a wonderful app. Marco, the developer really thinks about usability and ways to reduce friction. Been happily paying for it for the past few years.
@andrewford @gannonnordberg Is there a way in Overcast to view episodes in a playlist without downloading them first? That was my biggest reason for switching to Pocket Casts a while back, but I could just be missing something. BTW, I just bought Castro, and it’s inbox triage method might click with me.
@40Tech @andrewford In the settings, there's an option to control what the app does with new episodes. You can stream-only, download on wi-fi, or download on wi-fi or cellular. You can also choose what the app does for each podcast subscription. For example, you can subscribe to a podcast but choose not to download new episodes.
@gannonnordberg Thanks. Is there a way to know which podcasts have new episodes, aside from going into each one, so I can then decide whether to download an episode or not?
@40Tech also, the app is free with an optional paid upgrade, so you could always try it out for yourself and see what you think.
@gannonnordberg Thanks. I actually used it for a couple of years, but thought maybe I was overlooking some functionality when I switched away.
