Word to the wise: Gutenberg, at least at the moment, does not permit writing in Markdown. Nor does it accept incoming Markdown from, say, micro.blog. Ask me how I know.

@kfitz Good tip, thanks. I know there Markdown plugins for WP, will these quit working post-Gutenberg?

@bradenslen That, I don't know. The Gutenberg team does seem to have Markdown on their radar, but when it will be fully functional is unclear.

@kfitz Wow, I can’t believe it breaks incoming Markdown from XML-RPC; I wouldn’t have thought possible based on my understanding of how WP Markdown support works and what Gutenberg was supposed to be. That seems to indicate it’s far more than just a new editor UI/UX and it’s messing around in the guts of WP publishing :-(
