@JohnPhilpin The French Lieutenant’s Woman made a big impression on me when I read it a couple decades back.
@macgenie it is indeed a good book - but IMHO far from his best. That said, a good example of how he tries to break story telling linearity - a lot of his work pushes back on literary norms.
And of course the movie that it became handled that linear break really rather well. Different to the book - but cleverly done.
@macgenie Hi! New to micro.blog & really like the vibe... tried to subscribe to two of your podcasts on overcast but get an error ‘OPML Error. could not read OPML file…’ when clicking on the subscribe link on my iPhone.
@joelafferty Welcome! I haven’t heard of that problem. It’s a good question for help@micro.blog.
@JohnPhilpin thanks for sharing. I’ll have to give this a try. If you haven’t already, Fowles’ The Collector is also fantastic.
@bblake It is. I have read - and own - every Fowles I have ever found - other than the ones he wrote in French :-( But definitely including his 'essays' like The Tree and Islands. 7 or 8 of them are signed by the man himself.
No - I am not a stalker!
@JohnPhilpin haha! That is really cool. Hang on to those. It sounds like it’s high time for you to learn French?
