And there came the order that we should move our courses online
@jemostrom We’re going through the same right now. I’m not actually teaching this year because I’ve been bought out by a fellowship, and I’m quite glad about that right now.
@bsag I'm starting a project course with 70 students collaborating on the development of one program, the first time most of them have worked in a group larger than 4-6 people ... and I realize that I'm actually looking forward to this, it's going to be a fun challenge (and the course starts in two weeks)
@jemostrom That sounds good! Today we had our first lab meeting via WhatsApp with our PhD students chipping in from UK, Austria, Singapore and Gabon. It was fun and I think we all felt a bit less isolated.
@bsag I'm currently in department meeting with 73 people using Zoom. It works as usual, the same people keep talking 😋
@jemostrom Just used Zoom myself for the first time today - it was much more stable than Skype.
@jemostrom @pratik I find Skype causes my fans to ramp up after a couple of minutes till I could cook eggs on my laptop! 2 hours on a multi-person Zoom video call and the CPU was below 50% the whole time.
@bsag Not surprised. The folks at Gates Fdn we work with also admitted that they are glad to not use Skype anymore (had to coz MSFT owns it). Now use MSFT Teams.
@pratik Yeah we moved to Teams as well at work. It's much better technology for conference calls.
