@jeffmueller I have a friend who's talking about making an open source livejournal analogue precisely because of how awesome the privacy controls per-post were. Like a lot of folks, I remember LJ being rad.

@stevepbrady Yeah, same. I know it’s a pain for people, but I sometimes wish it required Wordpress or money. You’d have to be dedicated to joining. Troll farms could automate Wordpress installations and sign ups, sure, but they’d really have to want to do that.

@jeffmueller What I found interesting was that he was in search of social media when he already has his own personal social media site, and it wasn't going to require the work to rebuild the way he was attempting to on Mastodon.
