@jayeless Four cans of ~5% isn’t much, but of course it have a lot to say how big size a person you are. I think the tolerance decrease for everyone with age. (I saw this myself in my mid-30s, so you don’t have to be old-old to have the tolerance altered). If there is something treatable, I hope you’ll get it over with as soon as possible. Good thing it doesn’t seem to be anything scary.

If the buzz isn’t your main goal, you could do as a friend of mine: have a wine glass of water between each can.

I found this on drinkwise.org.au:

High blood alcohol concentration: As we age, muscle mass is replaced by fat tissue. This means that an older person who drinks the same amount as someone younger will generally have a higher blood alcohol concentration (BAC). The amount of water in our body also goes down with age, contributing to higher BAC.

@jayeless Aaargh. Quite a killjoy effect. Good luck for the results. It's weird how our bodies change. In the last few years I've discovered I can't really eat bread any more and have to limit my intake. Then there's sugar: I can't eat chocolate any more (I used to eat tons) and recently a large glass of lemon, lime and bitters (I don't do alcohol) with an evening meal when we went out meant I didn't sleep soundly and spent much of the next day feeling a big groggy and foggy. Our bodies have control…

@jayeless That’s unfortunate. Hope it all goes well with the doctor.

@Miraz Not sure I like the idea of someone becoming intolerant to lemon, lime and bitters. 😳

@lmika Might be to do with the quality of the ingredients. That one was from the tap at a Club. Other places with better ingredients might not be as bad. LL&B is my regular drink and I have had some much better ones that didn't seem to affect me like that. It's probably a sugar thing though.

@maique @odd @Miraz @lmika Thanks for the well-wishes everyone 😊

@odd Yeah, reducing a little with age is to be expected, I just feel in my case it went down very fast and very deeply. I do usually have a big glass of water between drinks (or just have both on my table at once and sip alternately at beer and water) and I don't even find it reduces any buzz. I do drink a lot water anyway, though 😛 Honestly I can't even imagine how bad my tolerance would be if I didn't, haha.

@Miraz That's a shame, isn't it! A few years ago I discovered I was mildly intolerant to legumes – not enough to stop me eating them at all, but enough to thwart my plan to eat more of a semi-vegetarian diet, as I'd been planning. The body does, indeed, get the final say 😔
