It is great timing that Microsoft announced that Outlook for Mac is now free w/o an Office 365 subscription. I just cancelled my HEY sub this week.

rcrackley.micro.blog@rcrackley its too bad that Outlook for Mac sucks so much. Probably why its now free. No advantage unless you're using MS email/calendaring products.
@rcrackley that’s probably because the app is so bad. I use the browser version instead because it has all the features!
@gr36 what is missing? I found that the Mac app is too similar to the web version heh. lots missing in both from the Windows app (shock)
@jasonekratz I hit roadblocks often when I try it every so often. One that comes to mind is categories, they are next to useless on Mac app in comparison to the web.
@jasonekratz @gr36 Well, I know they are going to do a complete rewrite, but I don't think it's too bad. It isn't my dream app, but I like it better than Mail. I especially like having the continuity between my home and work mail so I don't continue to use the wrong hotkeys.
@rcrackley @jasonekratz @gr36 I despise Outlook. If 365 worked with Apple Mail I’d switch in a heartbeat. Last time I tried the web version of Outlook I was underwhelmed, and it doesn’t work with my AppleScripts at $dayjob.
@jasonekratz I really liked Entourage, but I also remember everyone complaining that the Mac didn't have Outlook.
@jasonekratz What‽ Can you share whatever magic this is, as last I read Mail didn’t work with O365.
@rcrackley Outlook doesn’t have the Email sender screening feature that is extremely useful at this point 🥲
@pimoore should be able to get it just by adding a Microsoft Exchange account and making sure to hit the sign in button.
@pimoore for my work account tho I had to get permission but thats just a setting on the admin side.
@rcrackley kidding aside...the new Outlook for Mac UI sucks. they removed a lot of stuff I used like different views, sorts, etc. The "old" style still available, except in the free version per that post from Tsai. Then again search in the new one, totally rewritten, works fine. Search never worked properly for me on the older Outlook for Mac (think it relied on Spotlight. new one doesnt).
