In reply to: The only good online fandom left is Dune | The Outline

...and lo, a new dawn of science fiction and fantasy dawned.

PODCASTS IN SPACE!

... but for real, I think some of the best contemporary fantasy story telling is happening in podcasts right now.

@eli graaak! The outline is such an awful site, visually. I love Dune, albeit I can see its many problems. It is a wonderful source of comfort to me that it seems bereft of a fandom from whom I’d have to distance myself.

@dgold I absolutely love The Outline's design. Are you typically on desktop or mobile when you come across one of their articles? The biggest thing for me is they tried to do something different as opposed to a lot of the same old everywhere else.

@Kordumb the wobbly line hr elements are hideous and distracting. I don’t understand it, or their penchant for rapidly switching background pics.

@Kordumb @dgold I love the idea behind it, but don't always love the implementation. I think if they replaced the animated squiggly lines I'd be happier. Still, I like when things don't look like a Medium post.

@jack I use RSS for everything and was frustrated by the truncated feed from the Outline but after using lire for awhile to get around it, I've started to go through to their site again because it's a nice change of pace and has a distinct personality compared to most sites.
