Great to see others pursuing the goal of simpler/more privacy-aware analytics: https://usefathom.com/

But remember, THIS WAS MY IDEA TOO! And I HAVE A WORKING PROTOTYPE! https://blog.kownter.com/about-kownter/

I feel validated.

But Paul & Danny will do a much better job.

@ross Interesting. I've been keeping my eye out for something self-hosted and simpler than Matomo (was Piwik) which is what I'm using now. I miss Mint. Thanks for the link.

@jack Thanks, Jack. I definitely think there's a gap in the market for a simple, modern, self-hosted analytics tool. I tried Piwik a few times but it was always trying to hard to be GA, right? Fathom is MUCH more along the right lines. 😃

@jack I ended giving up on anything that relied on javascript. I realized I never really cared about "conversions" on my private site, how long people spent, etc... so I went the old school route of analyzing the server logs: goaccess.io (works with most webservers including S3).

@oyam I was using goaccess on a couple static sites on my VPS but never considered keeping it when moving to S3 as I assumed it didn't work there. Glad to hear otherwise, thanks!
