I'm sad. I finished reading Dark Forest by Cixin Liu and it's one of the most beautiful stories I've read. It's full of loss, hope and a terrible sense of the fate of humanity. But I'm sad because anything I read after this will pale in comparison.

@nitinkhanna I'm currently reading that as well. It's been quite a ride. Really looking forward to finishing up this trilogy.

@skalnik yeah I’m looking forward to reading Death’s End. Though what will I do after that? I dunno. What page are you on?

@nitinkhanna I enjoyed the first two books immensely, but I thought the first book better than the second. I'm holding off on the third because I was ok with where the second book ended and think maybe I don't need another. Plus, it gives me something to look forward to when I change my mind.

@jack The first was definitely groundbreaking. I’d never read anything by a Chinese author, let alone one of such caliber! I thought about the ending when I finished it, but tell me this -

Does it feel like an ending to you? I didn’t feel that it’s anything close to an ending. The author did write some things in there with some finality, but in the end, it felt like all of that was pretext for the conclusion, so those passages didn’t feel like closure.

My local bookstore doesn’t have the third book. I’ll ask them to acquire it. Maybe I’ll read it towards the end of the year...

@nitinkhanna You're right that calling it an ending is a bit optimistic. I remember thinking to myself that if there was no third book I'd be ok with it. I devoured the first two so it could have been that I'd had enough for the moment, too. Let me know if you like the 3rd once you get to it. I'm easily swayed!

@jack 😊

I think that’s why I subconsciously gave myself time between the readings of the first and second books. It’s like the seasons of a show - now I have something to look forward to in a couple of months! 😊

@nitinkhanna I've got quite the backlog to work through, so no worries about what to do after hehe. I'm reading it on my kindle, page 220 of 512.

@skalnik I've also got a backlog (or, actually, forelog, as I'm looking forward to reading these :P ) but it did feel very much like I've finished Harry Potter, or Game of Thrones, or some long series. I was with the book for about three weeks (lunchtime reading) and so it was a very nice habit :)

You're midway huh? You're in for a ride! :)
