@jack do you have any thoughts on Tinder Box vis-a-vis DevonThink? I’m an intermittent DT user and I like it’s database and AI search. And I don’t recall what TB’s features are, but I vaguely recall it’s more compliment than alternative to DT. But I don’t know if that’s right. And every video on Tinder Box I find tends to be too short (“here’s a 90 second thing on why you should use it”) or too long (“I have a two hour deep dive for advanced users!”).
@lukemperez I'd say they're complimentary. DTP is great for keeping lots of PDFs or other text-heavy files for organizing and especially searching. The relevant texts can then be copied to Tinderbox notes for whatever is needed (analysis, linking, mapping, etc.) TB is hard to describe and can be tricky to get one's head around. Learning resources are, as you've found, difficult to create since it's such an open-ended tool. There's no great answer to "How do I use it?"
@jack Would you say the following is a potential use-case? I keep all my academic notes (markdown files), PDFs, JPGs (of primary sources from archives) in DTP. Then, as I begin a new project, I search for relevant notes, PDFs, and JPGs, and copy them into TB and start working on an outline and then draft, which then goes into word or LaTeX when I'm ready to start formatting before sending it off? In this case, TB replaces or works alongside my outliner (OmniOutliner)? Or would TB work in a different part of that scenerio?
