I just wanted a new coffee maker because my cheap one makes only horrible coffee now… I’m sad to report that I fell into a rabbit hole and I will probably have to open a coffee shop next week and become a barista.

@hutaffe We're pretty happy at home with a mix of two brands that usually get a bad reputation from coffee lovers: a Nespresso machine with Starbucks capsules. Not the best coffee one can have, for sure, but the strongest capsules we have available here are pretty decent. Not too cheap, not too expensive, it does get the job done every morning.
@maique I‘m trying a „back to the roots“, zero waste approach. I don’t like the idea if producing even more waste. It’s very convenient though and the coffee would be good enough for me. But once you opened that door... it feels a little like the fountain pen subculture 😉
@hutaffe If you are a fan of filter coffee, get yourself a MoccaMaster. It's very hard to make really good expresso at home, mostly because you need a grinder that grinds fine and a proper high pressure machine, and that's expensive, but it's easy to make really good pour overs and filters at home :)
@jsanchez yeah, I’m starting easy with a standard french press to get a feeling for grinding the coffee the way I like it. I‘ll then try out a pour over or filter. I don’t want a big thing in my kitchen anymore that needs maintenance, so really basic. I read that sommeliers say there can be great coffee with those easy tools 😉
@seishonagon something like that is already on my shopping list 😊 I think it fits exactly what I want. Easy cleaning, no maintenance, no waste...
