@gr36 a little cynicism that is a reflection of myself. Do you find yourself more inclined to believe that writing for a niche is less interesting when your attempts to write for a niche haven’t worked out? I know I do. That doesn’t mean it’s not true, but it’s certainly an opinion that’s influenced by circumstances.

@ChrisJWilson wihtout a doubt. All opinions are influenced by expereince.

I am not saying it is the worst thing in the word, but I, personally, couldnt think of anything worse than feeling restricted. I also feel it too when talking to someone people that have painted themselves into a niche and have run out of steam.

For every person its wrong for, there are no doubt numerous that enjoy it.

@gr36 I couldn't agree more. It would be nice to get my newsletter to a point where I'm making the $100/year that it costs me to keep my blog going but even if it doesn't, it still works out as a relatively cheap hobby

@gr36 I think, in order to stay sane, it is a good idea to write for yourself... if people do like what you write, take it as a gift.
