@frostedechoes I’m loving it too. We live in a neighborhood with no HOA. That’s good coz I heard some HOAs are asking people not to do that 😒

@pratik That is beautiful!

Also: what kind of hate-filled monster hides behind an HOA to try and put a stop to this sort of human expression? I can’t even conceive of a legitimate justification for being afraid of what colored chalk might do to the value of a community.

@fgtech @pratik It's strange that an HOA would even care. My HOA kinda enjoys chalk sidewalk drawings by the kids and it's fun walking around seeing what has been drawn. The whole idea here, is to encourage kids to play outside, run around, be creative.

@bradenslen @fgtech I’m sure it was an exception and an overzealous HOA. Hence made the news. From what I recall, chalk drawings were likened to graffiti.

@pratik Ahh.. if this HOA was roundly ridiculed for the policy then all is well because people still have a well-calibrated sense of boundaries.

As @bradenslen said, why would they care? The idea of likening temporary chalk markings to permanent graffiti is laughably misguided.

@fgtech A head of a HOA recently trapped an African American delivery driver demanding to know why he was in the neighborhood. Sometimes the smallest bit of authority leads to the pettiest of decisions.

Also, this is how the NYPD treats chalk graffiti (at least when created by “some” people).
