Anyone has suggestions on wireless routers with ‘signal repeaters’ for an apartment? I’m at my wits’ end by moving things to get reception in an already ‘dead zone’ area. It’d help if they also have nice support for using something like dd-wrt or openwrt.

@jackyalcine I have a set of Eero Pro’s that have been fantastic. You should be able to blanket an apartment with two.

@jackyalcine Eero was bought by Amazon, which has many people backing away. They feel overpriced to me and they’re closed source.

I just ordered a Linksys WRT3200ACM, which can run OpenWrt and DD-WRT. These are also a bit pricey, but Staples sometimes has them refurbished.

@jackyalcine Set up my new router with OpenWrt last night. Overall very smooth process, assuming familiarity with OpenWrt. Had one hitch, which turned out to be a failed port on my upstream switch, which is obviously not the fault of the Linksys!
