It’s 92 F, humid and intensely sunny. There is a 10 mph breeze which helps but it is hot. And I’m reading the first “Charlie Chan” detective novel while guzzling iced tea.

@bradenslen The Charlie Chan movies starring Warner Oland have been sitting on my shelf for years. Maybe I’ll have a mystery and Noir fall.

@bradenslen I love updates like this because I can visualize what you are doing. Also, my mom shares the regional climate and I have an idea of what she is feeling, too.

@bradenslen In contrast, here in Hanover, NH, I’ve been chilly all day and had to put on a long-sleeved sweatshirt until I got working in the garage hard enough to warm up.

@odd One of the reasons I'm reading the books is to see how they contrast with the movies. When I was a kid one of our local TV stations would alternate Charlie Chan movies with the Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes movies every Sunday during the winter so I've seen them all many times although it's been many decades ago. Plus Kobo had all the Charlie Chan novels in an ebook bundle at a really good price.

@fgtech Thanks for letting me know. I'll post more if they seem noteable. It's been very dry here so everyones lawn is brown and crunchy if they have not been watering.

@fgtech Oh rub it in! :-) Dog days of summer here, although we have a cold front moving in this coming week.

@bradenslen It is nice to have childhood memories like that! The reason that led me to buy the Charlie Chan movies in the first place, was a line in “The Big Sleep”, the one with Humphrey Bogart, where the book-shop girl says “He’s got a Charlie Chan mustache”. So after seeing the movie, I looked up “Charlie Chan”, and liked the descriptions of the movies. But then something got in the way, and then I’ve been meaning to watch them for 20 years…
