My grandmother. Born 1906 in Glasgow. Arrived with her mother and brother in the U.S. in 1912. Family legend says that my great grandfather was late sending money for their passage, and so they were unable to buy tickets on the Titanic.

Could be true. (Oct. challenge, Day 12.)

@jean I definitely see your face in hers. It’s my personal theory that children tend to look more like a grand-parent than either parent.

@dgs It could be true, as I say. I could disprove it, if I discovered they departed on a transatlantic ship before April 12, 1912. If they sailed after that, there's no way to know. But it is an enduring family story, and no doubt sparked my Titanic obsession from a young age.
