I wish I could post to my blog from my phone as easily as I can tweet. The WordPress app just isn’t as simple. I almost want to build something myself.

@cdevroe Given where I'm reading (and writing) this, I'd have thought the Micro.blog app was a good solution.

@cdevroe this is largely why I gave up on Wordpress - their app seems to focus on features at the expense of function. I found it terribly clunky. The Micro.blog app works a dream in comparison.

@devilgate Perhaps I could use it to post status updates to my WordPress blog. I've never tried that. cc @manton

@strandlines I'm sure it works well for those it is made for. But for someone like me that posts status updates, photos, and occassional longer pieces to their blog - it isn't a good solution.

@cdevroe I found with Wordpress there were so many hoops to jump through just to get a post up, it just put me off. And that was when the app worked properly. I like being able to just write and post with mb.

@cdevroe @devilgate I recommend the Micro.blog app too. 🙂 If you can work within it's WordPress limits (basically set a category and post format for all short posts) then it should be a much better experience than the WordPress mobile app.

@manton The Micro.blog app has all categories available in the settings, but you are supposed to choose category once. What if you could have one standard category, but also the ability to change it per post? This may sound wacky, but it may be helpful for some? @cdevroe @strandlines

@manton I’m going to give it a try for status updates. I had no idea I could! How did I miss this?

@odd @cdevroe That would be useful, but lately we've had to limit how much time we put into WordPress-only features. I might look at it again whenever we update those settings.

@manton Do any of the Android app solutions post to a WordPress blog in a simple tweet-like fashion?

@cdevroe agreed until I realised the usefulness of MarsEdit for WP I hated WordPress, and faffed about to much now I have a useful workflow for one of my WP blogs , I just wish for a MarsEdit for iOS one day. And the MB apps are excellent, simplicity and usability are core I love them - cc @manton @danielpunkass

@philipbrewer I think posting to external blogs is planned for Gluon, via the Micropub API. When that happens it should work with WordPress if you install a couple of the IndieWeb plugins.

@cdevroe I use Drafts for iPhone and Mac to post text posts. For images, the iPhone Wordpress extension works fine.

@cdevroe Now that I’ve tried it, it is fairly easy and handy.

@manton I do have Micropub up and working. I don't see it in Dialog, but I'll check out Gluon.

@philipbrewer Hey Philip. I’m going to add it to Gluon soon (I’m the developer). It’s not ready yet. Currently working on some unplanned features but hope to make good progress by February. I can reply back to you, once it’s there, if you think that will be helpful to you. cc @manton

@cdevroe Not yet, but I have some Webmention-related improvements in the works so maybe I can do that around the same time.
