@maique I just grabbed my subscription. Reading the roadmap and spying a price increase on the horizon gave me the nudge. Now to start setting things up.
@crossingthethreshold That’s great! It’s a ridiculously cheap price for the features. Hope you have fun, playing around with everything.
@maique OK, I've been all over the site, read all the help pages (well, most of them) and I still don't really understand. What actually is omg.lol?
It seems to be partly web hosting, but not quite? Or not just? And Mastodon…
I guess the question is, why would I host my site there rather than where I host it now?
@devilgate omg.lol started as a landing/profile page service, and you can use it as that.
In the meantime a few other features have been added, and you're welcome to use them, if you find they are helpful.
You get an email address, that you can integrate with Fastmail, or use with any other email client; you can have it host a static page (not really a website hosting service though); you also get full control of the DNS on your username; a pastebin is also being deployed soon; a mastodon instance is working already...
I would not, however, consider it a Webhosting service.
Most of the features are described at their homepage.
Hope this helps.
@gr36 Go to home.omg.lol, login, and scroll down a little. You should have the information for IRC and Mastodon over there.
@manton Yes. Adam is describing it as “Old-school weblogs complete with our particular approach to simplicity and fun”.
@acfusco Alright, then. I couldn’t remember doing it, as I said, but my memory sometimes plays tricks on me with this sort of thing 🙂 Thank you for letting me know this wasn’t the case, this time.
