Every time I see or hear someone say “utilize,” I am screaming in my mind JUST SAY USE!!!

EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

@dannysale aahhhhhh! In a former career I found myself editing gov't employees' writing (procurement stuff) and I had "Use use, don't utilize utilize!" scrawled on a whiteboard in my office. Didn't help! They utilized "utilize" like champs.

@richText The definitions of each word are a wee bit different according to Great Google but I'm not sure they should be.

@dannysale @richtext yeah, there are subtle differing meaning, but 99% of the time, the person could have said “use” and it would have been just fine.

@petebrown the other headache was a refusal to use “me” where appropriate. “Call myself on the phone to discuss.” (Whiteboard: “‘me’ isn’t always wrong!”)
