@Cheri I was saying the same to my wife last night, that we are now into the second week of August already.

@crossingthethreshold Is Hawaii avoiding the hot temperatures plaguing most of the US? We’ve been lucky here.

@Cheri Maui went through a hot, dry spell while I was off the island at the end of June, early July. So hot & dry that the ground looked parched and a couple of fires started (thankfully no one injured or property damaged). Since then intermittent rain has fallen, a couple of tropical storms have passed and evenings have cooled down...though during the day the sun can feel brutal, even with the trade winds blowing.

@pratik June & July have been our worst months so far, and I was off island for a part of them. Still some brutal heat during the day, but the trade winds take the edge off of that. Rains, and a couple of tropical storms, have also been a relief.

@crossingthethreshold places that have never experienced high temperatures are now getting them. We haven’t had any decent rain for nearly 6-8 weeks.

@pratik Wow, that is longer than our recent dry spell...by far. Although it got very, very humid when the tropical storms went through, the rain was welcome. They had downgraded from hurricanes by the time that they reached the islands, which meant that we benefitted from the rain, had a rest from the sun, and the damage inflicted was much, much less.
