Why are “tl;dr” synopsis often at the end of long pieces of text? Wouldn’t the point be to put them at the beginning?

@cdevroe The way I remember it from the Something Awful forums is that people would post “tl;dr” as a response to any long new topic. The original poster would edit their post to include the tl;dr summary, yet forum etiquette was such that edits were appended after the original.
