Had some fun with Micro.blog themes and created a new one for those “link in bio”-style sites. It has a custom home page with links to other platforms, but because it’s Micro.blog it can still have a full blog underneath. It’s called Gateway. Demo here: links.manton.org

@manton OK, I’m now curious if this can be implemented on a current theme.

@manton yes! Would love this bio link as a plug-in that can work with other themes. Regardless, thank you! I’m sure I can use Gateway to learn from.

@skoobz @camacho One feature this has is color options, so that needed to be a full theme to be possible. But it should be possible to extract just the home page and font references (for the icons) into other themes. If no one else tackles that I could document it.

@manton I noticed it’s just an index.html page with no references to posts with a json file that feeds the link info in. Totally looks like it could be tinkered with a bit with some CSS on the blog end.

@manton well done for creating the sorts tools that are being adopted!
I've already got my own Ceru.Li/nkstagram parody page sing Carrd, but would it be possible to dedicate a single page to this theme at wa.rner.me/links keeping the rest another theme? If so would consider using for blogging overview in future

@warner This one is designed to be mostly a standalone site using the home page. I think we'd need another plug-in to make it a page, or maybe a tutorial for extracting to use in another blog.

@manton tutorial would be really well-received I reckon. Perhaps it would act as a good starter-task for folks like me to do their first theme customisation.

@manton That could be marketed as a separate tier for one-page landing pages. Maybe a Gateway to full Micro.Blog.

@manton Very nicely done. I like that a full MB blog could be lurking underneath! I don't know what the back end looks like where you input all the social network links but I hope there is a space for forums that one hangs out in.

@bradenslen There's a setting screen to enter social network usernames. Nothing for forums yet, although that could be added. (It's also straightforward to edit the HTML to add anything.)

@manton Thanks. I mentioned forums because they help in the fight against the Big Tech social network silos. It would be cool if there was a prompt for forums.

Anyway, this is a cool theme. It's like a MB version of Known. Congrats.
