@anniegreens Also didn’t know about the connection between Kagi and Brave. Found this link with helpful details on why that’s problematic:

@anniegreens Well said, and I agree about the part on Apple's move regarding Texas, too.

@anniegreens I totally get this view. I'm very outspoken about Apple's dev policies, and I think maybe it's because it feels like something that I have a tiny bit of influence on changing. Texas's abortion ban is infuriating and much more important, for sure. The two issues are sort of worlds apart.

@anniegreens Well said. It says something about their awareness or understanding of their (likely) position of priviledge in the larger context of power and patriarchy.

More and more I'm noticing (just posted earlier today) the white supremacy that is seemingly latent in tech circles. It seems to me that even well meaning, liberal folks that consider themselves allies to others are failing to recognize the full scope of priviledge they exsit in. What's been clicking for me most recently is the tendency of tech to be used for power. It's a sort of default position that it is to be used to benefit those with power.

There's for too much to break down in a comment but I think there's a lot of overlap with your post. Thanks for calling it out.

@anniegreens so well put. It’s infuriating when Apple tries to showcase how socially aware they are by putting up a big MLK picture and words on MLK day on their website, but then have no issues asking people to move to Texas, where a certain section of people don’t have any rights anymore. The irony is not lost on me and it makes Apple look even more suckier. At least shut the facade that cares.
