I’m thinking to set up webmentions on my site (wordpress). Does anyone have know of some good documentation for doing so? cc @kicks @bradenslen

@donmacdonald I assume you have wordpress.org/plugins/i... installed on WP? Also themes can matter. Sempress works.
@bradenslen do not, my excellent good friend, assume anything. I am starting pretty much from zero here. Well, not zero exactly, I do have a running Wordpress install on my own domain and have it verified to micro.blog. But I'm not willing to change my theme at this point as I’ve put a lot of time and effort into getting the design the way I like it. Is it necessary to use a webmention approved theme like Sempress? Looking at the documentation, it seems perhaps it is…maybe I should just download the plug-in and see what happens
@donmacdonald I see what you mean about the theme. There is no way I'd change that. Yeah, I'd download the plugin which will prompt you to download other plugins and see what happens. Also more info here: indieweb.org/WordPress
@donmacdonald Looks like your theme is probably compatible—hard to say until you install and we try some posts back and forth. I don’t know Wordpress at all, but I can help fix the theme up. It honestly looks really close, so it should just be minor tweaks. The theme is definitely too good to lose.
@kicks Thank you for saying so! OK, I have enabled webmentions, and they appear to be working appearing below the posts…how should we test?
@bradenslen Thank you!! Yes, it appears to work, although I wonder how I can tweak the default text to be less confusing. It would be good if it just said “This article was mentioned on ramblinggit.com” without the “Don MacDonald says:” part. I'm guessing that's there as the webmention is being treated like a comment?
@donmacdonald That was the title of my post. I should have changed it. If I had titled my post "Check out this great drawing" that's what would be there. Which would make sense. Sorry I was rushing. I think it will work well as is because most people will make up their own title. In any event you are in business and it looks good.
