@arush Hey there, totally unrelated to your check-in, but I had to recreate my MB account so you may need to follow me again. Assuming you want to follow me. :)

@arush Yay, this is awesome. I'm still trying to figure out how to hook things up, it is definitely not simple, at least not so far.

@SteveSawczyn Is there something you're having trouble with specifically? This platform's easier to type responses on since there's no character limit for responses so I don't need to create crazy abbreviations. There's also the Indieweb Slack which has a WordPress channel, just go to indieweb.org/discuss and click the Slack link or IRC or whichever you'd like to use, follow the instructions to sign up, and we're all in there. WordPress stuff is pretty active and if you decide you don't want to use WordPress any more, there are also people who can help you switch platforms. Other than that, I can try to answer your questions.

@arush So my biggest gripe with MB is commenting which WordPress does very well. WP also has email subscriptions for people who prefer to get posts that way. This has everything else I want. I can't post from here to WP because ... well first I don't know how, but second, my WP doesn't seem to support post formats and I don't want each status update to trigger an Email to WP subscribers. Maybe I just keep both sites, would just be good to consolidate one way or the other. I know I'm probably just over complicating everything, I just want users to have choice with how they interact and of course I want it easy for me to manage.

@SteveSawczyn I have some code snippets that will allow you to do things like choose which posts get sent to subscribers if you're using Jetpack, and if I remember correctly you're using Genesis, so that's a matter of a copy/paste to your theme's functions.php to add post formats support. If you want I can help with the copy/pasting.

@SteveSawczyn Also, you can't really post from here to WordPress, but you can post from WordPress to here and you can set up Icro to post to your WordPress site if you want to do simple posting and you decide to switch to post kinds instead of post formats. These are things that you can do later though and it's not like you'll need to do everything at once, you can grow/change as your posting needs change.

@arush I really appreciate your offer of help, let me think on this and figure out how best to move forward. Ultimately, I should just start writing on one platform or the other and just see what works. I've added my WP feed here so any content published there should cross-post. Maybe I just use micro.blog for, well, microblogging and my WP site for anything longer, not that I've published anything lengthy in a while anyway. Much to think on, but I think I need sleep and much coffee before I'm able to do anything. :)
