Ditching Medium

As you’ve probably heard, people aren’t happy with Medium at the moment. What started as an awesome blogging platform seems to have quickly turned into something that’s pushing people away in droves

Mine’s a similar journey - didn’t hate Medium right away.

@amit I have one project loving on Medium at the moment. Once I muster the energy will be moving that over to Blot

@juliansummerhayes I was specifically interested in the inbuilt network aspect - something very similar to twitter, but for longer posts. It was always a secondary source where my posts existed in addition to my blog. This was, of course, before I had realised I was contributing to the silo.

@kaa Yeah, switching blogs is never trivial. For me, the move was simpler because my posts on Medium were always reposts of my ones on my blog. So one fine day, I just stopped reposting to Medium, that’s it.

@amit From a writing on mobile perspective, at least for using an iPad, I have found Drafts to micro.blog and Drafts to Working Copy/Github/Netlify & Jekyll to be the cleanest.

@frankm Yeah, most of my posts originate in Drafts too. Actually, when I had written the post I linked to, I hadn't signed up for micro.blog, nor was I using Drafts. Funny how the services I use now have just the experience I has asked for then.

@frankm I had read several people praise the Drafts -> Micro.blog combination but it didn’t make much sense to me. Then I tried it a couple of months ago and I love it. It’s really sweet.
