Having nearly all of the foliage removed from our back garden revealed this magnificent-looking creature. No idea what it is.

@adoran2 Looks like a Sphinx Moth. Not the variety I know, but it certainly looks similar. Watch the nearby flowers and see if it shows up to sip nectar like a hummingbird.

@cliffordbeshers I think you’re right, thank you! The Sphinx Moth Wikipedia page took me to a page on the Elephant Hawk Moth which seems to be a match. Apparently very common here in England but I’ve never seen one before.

@adoran2 beautiful. I’ve seen a couple of the caterpillars but never seen an adult.
