@manton @danielpunkass I enjoyed your brilliant discussion on native apps. I'm a firm believer in native apps and use nothing other in my day-to-day. Web apps never feel right to me; they're slower, much more resource hungry and often come across as fragile. I have also read some developer diaries where complexity and compatibility were a nightmare too. To me, it feels a lot like the wrong tool for the job. The desktop app I am writing is native and multi-platform. It's fast and simple to code.
@manton For the record, I'm not including Micro.blog in my web app criticism - I'm referring to apps that are mostly client-side JS. I see Micro.blog as a website built by server-side.
@a_seagull_story Oh yeah, I assumed that's what you meant. The first prototype of Micro.blog actually was heavily JS-based, but it just didn't feel right, so I threw it out and now it's much more traditional server-side.
@manton Yes, I remember you talking about that, quite near to release IIRC - a bold decision and a good one. Basecamp adhere to this too so it must be right. :)
