@manton itโs the right call, even if I got a far amount of value from seeing what other folks are trying to do. I think having a space in the future would be nice. It has made me think a lot about why channels on Slack work well for me to find people with similar interests. Not sure what the M.b service angle is there, but another thing to consider.
@manton I listened to CoreInt and I'm perfectly OK with closing Slack, FWIW I'm using both Discord and Riot, preferring both to Slack but I think that Discourse is the better choice for a "user group"
@manton good move, I have noticed other communities starting to make that same move and some have even moved over to matrix.org instead since it's open source and federated. I myself have started using slack less and less.
@manton In anti-kismet news, an indie macOS native Slack client was released today. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
@manton thank you. I pretty much hate Slack for anything except work. Discord is only slightly better, and Discourse seems wrong given that you have a blog with replies already ;)
@manton Wait, I thought we are supposed to talk about Micro.blog on Micro.blog ๐ Slack or an equivalent medium was useful for crowdsourcing solutions for otherwise minor questions
@SciPhi That's an interesting point about Discourse. One idea that appealed to me is combining it with the current help site. But for now I'd like to wait a while to see if we really need anything new.
@bix Right, and that was a major problem with Slack. Looks like < 10% of our Slack messages were actually available in search.
@manton I think it's the right decision. And one less Slack workspace to check, yeah! Slack Fatigue is real.
