@Ron As I said in the other thread, I read Lies My Teacher Told Me many years ago, and loved it. I'm pretty sure I read it toward the end of my time in High School. It was probably one of the reasons I ended up majoring in History in college. Anyway, I'll definitely check out the book! I haven't read much non-fiction lately and have been meaning to make more of an effort on that front. This seems like an important book and I topic I'm interested in. Thanks for the recomendation!
@bradenslen Yes, sadly that's true, even savages at times, one of the things documented in Jim's book. Let me know what you think about it when you read it. If you have any questions for the author, I'll do my best to get them answered.
@DrOct Fantastic Stephen! I wish I could have read Lies while in high school too, but my freshman year in high school, Jim was still at the same high school and the other three years, he was attending Carleton College, so his most famous book was far in the future at that time. If not, it might have had a similar effect on me. As it was, when I got to college, I didn't have the slightest interest in history, even though it was being created around me. @Ron Right now I am in the middle of Collision of Empires which is going to take awhile to finish. Sundown Towns has already been added to my reading list.
