@bradenslen I got the impression you're somewhere in the Midwest, maybe IN? I think you can stay put, as I can in IL for the years left in our lives. At least I'm very happy where I am, since getting out of CA in 2017.

@jamesdasher Ohio has some nasty speed traps on the Ohio Turnpike. I'll leave it at that. :-)

@Ron Yeah I'm in IN, which has no particular bragging rights as a great place but like most of the Midwest, it might be boring but it isn't burning nor getting slammed by hurricanes every year. Ron, you and I are at an age where we don't want to be evacuating all the time so yeah, the Midwest suits us like Hobbits in the Shire. Boring but stable.

@bradenslen @Ron I gather that midwest states can have their share of instability, though, e.g. a friend had her Kansas ranch burn down in a wildfire a few years ago, and tornados and such. But "boring but stable" does sound good right about now.

@dejus @Ron To be sure, we have our share of calamities. But here in "fly-over country" high excitement tends to be about opening a new bottle of Ranch dressing at a cookout.

@dejus Yes, but Kansas is in Tornado Alley, central Illinois is not. We did have a small one during the Clinton years. Hillary came to walk the few blocks that were effected.

I lived in CA for 50 years and realized it wasn't gonna get any better, so we got out & came back to my hometown. I grew up about a dozen blocks south of my grade school. Now we live four blocks west of that same school, in a lovely home on the Natl Register of Historic Places. The same house in CA would have cost over 1 mil. The amount I paid for it would not even pay for a detached garage in CA. Most people who live in CA can't afford to live there, but they're afraid to go anywhere else.

@bradenslen I like the caramel ice cream I discovered in the ice cream machine at the cafeteria in the hospital. Very yummy. 😋

@dejus I am not sure about Midwest being so stable. I had to evacuate from a tornado plus those storms ....
