@SimonWoods right? The older I get the more I wish I lived in the age of letter writing instead…
@restlesslens I've tried and failed to establish letter-writing with friends. As with so many things, the more convenient drives out the better. My son and his wife have had more success, and carry on (written) correspondence with a number of people. I envy them. It helps that one of them has old-order Mennonite friends.
@restlesslens And it’s less than 500 years ago. Not a long time in the big scheme of things. 💌 The account of the Normans is a reminder of Helge Ingstad and his discoveries for me.
@odd I read about him the other day, coincidentally. I know I’m romanticizing it, but I get carried away imagining seafarers working their way along the ice, over the horizon, jumping between remote wildernesses to arrive somewhere vegetated, green, and incomprehensibly huge, populated by unfamiliar people, all recorded in sagas written off as legend for a 1000 years…
@JMaxB I think I would respond well to friends who insisted on letter writing. I can’t even get into the habit of sending people letters by email…
