Constitutional question:

Boris Johnson was born in NYC, a natural-born US citizen. However, he renounced his US citizenship in 2016 in preparation for becoming Prime Minister.

If Boris was to re-naturalize, could he be President?

@benwerd Probably. I could see an argument both ways, but I’m unfamiliar with the naturalization jurisprudence to be certain. But, since the Constitution says “natural born citizen” and he was, then at the very least, it would seem possible.

@benwerd According to the plain text of the Constitution, I don't see how Boris for President couldn't become a reality. But politics enter in. Ted Cruz was born in Canada, yet is always running for president.
