@jeroensangers yes, exactly right! I used to have a very ornate folder structure that I never actually used properly. Now, just archive or delete

@jeroensangers Yes! All my mail goes to Archive or (mostly) Trash. I suspect that the folder mentality is for many people a holdover from when search wasn't as well-developed.

@JMaxB There is a fascinating study from 2011 showing that organizing emails into folders takes on average 67 hours a year. And makes it harder to find your messages.

@jeroensangers @mroutley @jmaxb I'm almooost there .... I tag any emails I have to act on later. After I get to them, everything gets archived or, preferably, deleted. I also used to have an elaborate folder structure, but search is much better now.

@jeroensangers @JMaxB this seems exactly right. Even Gmail is really just one inbox and the use of tags. It was helpful in some ways back in the day. But as search improved, now folders are just a waste and often inaccurate.
