@ChrisHannah Sorry to bring that question up again, but I could find no reference to how they plan to pay the bills. Who do they charge? No media is cheap to host. It’s investor backed currency, pressure has to be on soon.
@amit they didn’t say any specific, only that they’re bringing monetisation features out soon. I’m guessing it will be similar to the YouTube ad and premium subscription model.
@ChrisHannah but isn’t that kind of like hosting your own blog vs posting your stuff on social media silos like FB and Twitter?
Shouldn’t we avoid creating another YouTube?
@vishae I guess it is. But there are also benefits that come from platforms such as YouTube, and I’m very certain that it will help a lot of new people get started with podcasting. I like the self hosted style myself, but it’s not for everyone.
@ChrisHannah I've tested and blogged about anchor a bit. It keeps changing track, sometimes quite radically. At least 3 times in the past couple of years. Some of the features were interesting but didn’t hang around. I guess I pay for hosting for longer term security. I also see that old anchor embeds on my blog currently say "503 Service Temporarily Unavailable"...
@johnjohnston I agree, the really need to settle things down and become a stable platform. Because in my mind Anchor could become a stepping stone for people who want to get into podcasting. Not until they start thinking about the long term though.
