@Cheri That was a good read. Seattle sounds like a wonderfully vibrant place. I loved the Silent Reading Nights. What a fabulous idea!
@Cheri We lived 20 minutes walk from downtown Portland for 8 years and loved it. The car stayed in the garage most of the time - why did we own one?! I definitely miss it at times. And I loved hearing about the “silent reading nights” - jealous.
“Hypertext.monster” - great! 😊
@Cheri I hope you get your Seattle-ness back soon too. We were hoping to be one of those tourists in August 2020. Hopefully soon.
@pratik Thanks. And if you have time in your schedule when you do make it out here, I might be persuaded to wrangle a Seattle-area micro.blog meetup one evening.
@crossingthethreshold Portland is a fun city! Pre-pandemic, I liked to take the Coast Starlight train down for the day to hit up Powell's City of Books and enjoy some good pub food. One time, we saw Portland's famous Darth Vader Unicycle Bagpiper in person. It was like a celebrity sighting!
@Cheri You should be on the Seattle tourism board! 😉 What a fantastic ad for Seattle, I feel I should go there sometime in the future.
I was a bit jolted by your last line, I also think that I should pay more closely attention to what my own city has to offer. 🤩
@Cheri It’s been years since Ann and I visited Seattle. We should take the Empire Builder out there again to visit our friends.
@Cheri I loved reading about your experiences living in Seattle. The few times I’ve visited your city, I have enjoyed its moodiness immensely. Portland is home for me now, but I haven’t been out in so long that I have forgotten many of her charms.
@Cheri I’m in! Don’t know your hood all that well these days, but closing in on 40 years here I should have something useful or at least entertaining to offer ;-)
@Cheri Nice one, love your take on an area I don’t know well. Your neighborhood was a vastly different place in years past. I love hearing about how it’s changing and your experiences there!
@Cheri Ah, we use to take the train up to Seattle. I took it a couple of times to Vancouver. The section between Seattle and Vancouver was so pretty, the track running right along the water. Congrats on the celebrity sighting!
