Total Aeropress fail. Oops. And it was the last coffee in the bag!

@PeacheyMcKeitch absolutely. That model is at least 5 years old and has started to lose its grippiness. Plus I was in a hurry.

@CTD I'm on my third Aeropress in 5 years. But that's partly because I left the second one behind in France because of lack of space in my luggage. I need to replace the rubber seal on the current one. I wouldn't be without one now.

@artkavanagh I should retire this one. The barrel is heavily scratched. But it has a kind of patina like old leather...

@CTD Oh no! I’ve had similar but less spectacular failures with my AeroPress.

@CTD It always happens that way. Often it’s the last filter with me.

@CTD My first Aeropress ended up with a very scratched barrel. The current one doesn't have that problem but the seal at the end of the plunger seems to have shrunk a bit. It seems they don't all wear out in the same way, which is to be expected since the way we put pressure on them varies from person to person and may change over time.

@artkavanagh agreed. My first one got all scratched (is still in use at work) but subsequent ones have not scratched so much. I think they changed the material along the way.
