@smokey that was added on a whim! I suspect setting up a library in a cave complex isnā€™t particularly good for preservation... :)

@Burk Thanks! (and all... that would be a nice thing, wouldn't it, to be able to tag everyone in a conversation thread without having to type in everyone's names?) Lots of good tutorials around and I pretty much just copied some of those. It's really fun :)

@herself that would be a fantastic feature!!

@Burk like an @all, or something similar.

@Burk @herself Doesnā€™t Icro do that? (Mantonā€™s reasons for not having it as the default behavior were to prevent spam-like tagging and making it harder for you to escape a conversation, but it would be nice to have some sort of option to easily include everyone whoā€™d replied, optionally.)

@smokey nope - and as far as I can tell it wonā€™t even give you look-ahead when you start typing @ ... the way the default app does.

@smokey @herself Maybe a means of displaying the names involved and forcing the user to tap/click each one to add to convo as needed each time? I totally get the problem with the "reply allā€! šŸ˜¬

@herself Given my experience with people showing no common sense when using Reply All on email, I can understand Mantonā€™s concern. Even on systems that had a ā€œare you sure you want to reply to everyoneā€ dialog check people conditioned themselves to automatically click yes without even thinking. And then people who were unhappy receiving those reply alls would complain to the sender by - you guessed it - doing their own reply all.

@seishonagon Huh, I thought someone had mentioned one of the third-party apps had some way to pick/include all Conversation participants in a reply. Oh well.

The username autocomplete is not part of the Micro.blog API, so everyone would have to re-engineer it themselves, which is, I guess, why no one has done it. I donā€™t know if there are plans to add it to the API (or open-source the current Mac/iOS code, which has the occasional bug) or notā€¦.

@Burk @herself Yeah, something like that is kind of what I had in mind. In this case, it could even build upon the existing (first-party only) username autocomplete by including those names at the front of the list, perhaps with a different color background or something to distinguish them from the ā€œregularā€ autocomplete results.

@ronguest yerk, yes, fair enough on that front. Though some way to pick associated names in a conversation would be handy!
