I’ve not shared a Homescreen photo for a while, so here it is. Very uninspired at the moment. I need to have a play around and get something a bit more fancy / interesting going I think.

@AndyNicolaides I always find it fascinating seeing other people’s home-screen. I’m still trying to hone mine down.

@AndyNicolaides I’m all in on widgets, at least with my Personal focus

@AndyNicolaides My iOS 15 Home Screen.

My Home Screen with one big widget and 8 icons + 4 set icons at the bottom.

@mroutley Day One’s widget is so well done. I have an all-widget setup on my iPad but I’m not keeping it. I actually find it a bit overwhelming.

@odd That’s awesome, love that green colour and crest.

@pimoore Thanks! I made it with Vintage Logo. Used Clear Spaces to get that free space at the top.

@mroutley What is the (yellow) app next to Drafts in the dock?

@crossingthethreshold @mroutley I’m also curious. Also, how do we remove the app icon names? Is that a feature in iOS 15.5? I’m on .4

@nitinkhanna I hadn’t noticed the lack of names in the dock. I’m on 15.6.1 and there are no names attached to my dock apps. Has it not always been like that, or maybe I simple haven’t noticed? 🤔 @mroutley

@mroutley That's very nice. I've tried to do something similar but it just doesn't stick. May take another look at it, this looks great.

@pimoore That's lovely, very chill looking. I love the look of that Drafts widget, but that app just does not stick for me.

@AndyNicolaides Yes, I try to use the stock apps over others, because on iOS there’s a good chance they’ll last a long time, whereas third party apps can just die one day out of the blue. I try to spread the risk on some areas though, and having backup options.

@crossingthethreshold @nitinkhanna I’m pretty sure that dock apps haven’t had names for awhile. At least they haven’t in recent iOS versions

@pimoore yeah DayOne is great. I put it there as a reminder to Journal.

I’m about half widgets on the iPad. Like you, I found going all widgets too much on the bigger screen

@AndyNicolaides My Home Screen is straightforward.

  • The top stack: Structured app (I don't use the app, just the widget) and Writing inbox in Drafts.
  • The bottom stack: Today's tasks in Things, filtered with the 'top' tag and On This Day widget from Day One

On the left side of my dock, I have shortcuts to my favorite contacts, and on the right, I have Drafts, where I can write my daily activity log or jot down some ideas. Then, in the center, is the app drawer, which contains the most frequently used apps.

However, once iOS 16 is released, I'll most likely create a new setup to take advantage of the updated focus mode.

@ningkantida hey what’s Structured app like ? Seems interesting.

@Munish It's essentially a time-blocking app, similar to Sorted 3. I believe it would be ideal for someone who does not have complex routines and simply needs a way to fit in some tasks in between. Sadly, there is no way to visualize an overview in addition to day planning, which is why I use calendar events instead because I prefer planning in a weekly format.
